Theodosis Chadjitheodosiou
Timeline Events
Biography
He was born in Stylloi1, in the province of Famagusta, on August 4, 1923.
He was arrested by the British at his home on December 18, 1957 and tortured on the spot to death.
Theodosis Chadjitheodosiou finished the primary school of his village and was trained to become a pharmacist.
But because he also needed higher education to finish pharmacy and financial reasons did not allow him to continue, he turned to agriculture to provide education to his younger siblings.
His father was arrested in October 1931, tortured and died shortly afterwards. At the beginning of the match, Theodosis joined EOKA together with his mother and all his brothers.
The guerrillas and EOKA executives met in their house, the duplicator was kept and EOKA leaflets were printed. On October 18, 1957, the English investigator Diar, who was later killed by the hero Alekos Konstantinou, went to their house for an investigation.
His mother, claiming that he would throw food at the animals, managed to mix in their food the documents of the fight which the animals ate. However, the copier was found in the house and Theodosius was tortured on the spot until his death, refusing to reveal anything.
He was then dragged into the street and, on the pretext of trying to escape, was shot by his English torturers. An autopsy found only one bullet, which pierced his heart, crossed the diaphragm, the upper part of the kidney and was stuck in the spine in a position almost horizontal, slightly downwards, which proves that the shot was fired afterwards.
To cover up his death by torture. His brother Kyriakos was sentenced to life in prison, while his other brother, Vassos, was already in prison serving a seven-year prison sentence for his actions. The entire population of the area accompanied the funeral procession and a forest of Greek flags leaned over his grave in honor, while the national anthem was sung.
