Biography
Phidias Symeonidis was born in Lagoudera1 on December 29, 1931.
He spearheaded the establishment of the Arakas Church of Lagoudera-Saradi.
He was one of the first to join EOKA and stood out for his honesty, modesty, selflessness, hard work and commitment to the great ideals of religion and country.
He was arrested and escaped from the detention centers of Kokkinotrimithia2 on September 13, 1956, and soon joined Afxentiou's group.
Afxentiou had a special weakness for him, since Symeonides counted nothing in front of the great ideal of the Union, and was ready to sacrifice everything for it.
After the struggle of EOKA, in "independent" Cyprus, Phidias Symeonides, died on 1/5/1975 in a small house made of cement bricks in the wilderness of Anthoupoli3, exhausted by illness.
