Andreas Avgoustis

Andreas Avgoustis was born on 24.9.1934 and received his high school education at the Gymnasiums of Famagusta and Paphos.

He then attended the Evelpidon School, returning to his hometown to participate in the liberation struggle of EOKA.

Digenis appointed him as the sector commander of Pitsilia, replacing Lambros Kafkallidis.

The group of sector leader A. Avgoustis had its hideout in the house of Kostas Stavrinoudis in P. Amiantos.

At the end of the struggle, he continued his studies at the Evelpidon School from where he graduated as a second lieutenant. He returned to Cyprus and joined the Cypriot army from where he was discharged with the rank of major.

He passed away on June 19, 2025.
